Do you want to use your 3D software development skills to help save lives – and do you have a deep interest in building state-of-the-art software platforms from the ground up?

Laerdal Copenhagen is a world-leading provider of world-class eLearning products, helping doctors and nurses around the world save lives. They are investing heavily in creating their own eLearning platform from the ground up with straightforward ambitions: they want to deliver a platform that is second to none when it comes to configurability, extensibility, and scalability. On that platform new top of the line eLearning solutions will be made to help save more lives.

As 3D Software Developer you will design and develop the 3D engine of the eLearning Platform, create reusable components to extend the capabilities of the platform and create toolchains to enable use of the platform.

Your primary tasks and areas of responsibility:

  • Optimize the 3D engine (Unity) to be run smoothly on web/mobile including
    • texture, shaders, illumination, and lighting
    • loading and management of 3D assets
    • playing and combining animations
    • integration of IK (Inverse Kinematics) technology in animation pipeline
    • blend shapes for runtime variation of characters
    • scaling for different types of hardware
  • Work closely with our 3D artists and their Maya/zBrush toolchain
  • Extend, improve and maintain the platform code base following best practices
  • Create simple design solutions for complex problems
  • Participate in architecture, design and code discussions with colleagues

The ideal candidate is expected to have a Computer Science education at BA or MA level, but experience with and deep understanding of 3D engines and 3D graphics in general is more important.

Furthermore, you:

  • Have experience with system-, platform-, or engine development
  • Have experience in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g. C#, C++, Java or other)
  • Might have some experience with or knowledge of the programming language Haxe
  • Might have knowledge about Unity (or other gaming engine)
  • Are familiar with agile development methods (Scrum / Kanban)

As a person you are self-motivating with a go do attitude, and you enjoy working in a multidisciplinary cooperative environment. Furthermore, you strive to be the best in your field, you wish to learn more, and are not afraid to explore new areas.
